Update, October 18th, 2014

Hello everyone!  I’m Sporky McForkinspoon, the project’s editor/translation checker.  It’s been a while, so I thought you all deserved an update on our progress.  Things are going pretty well, and I think we’re on track to finish by the end of the year.

Here’s where we stand now:

The second round of story editing is basically done.

Translation: 100%

First Edit: 100%

Second Edit: 99%

Translation: 100%

First Edit:  35%

Second Edit: 35%

100%, still no bugs discovered.

We’re at a fairly exciting point.  Now that the story edit is done, we are inserting the translated text into the game.  There are 294 .pack files in the ISO which contain all the text in the game, both the story and the NPCs, and they vary in size from a single line of text to several thousand words.  On average, they take a couple hours each to insert, make any last wording changes we like, and make sure that all of the text fits in the box.  To speed things up, I have started inserting text into the .pack files as I edit them the NPC text.  Right now, we have 18 of them completely finished and ready for release.  That means we’re about 6% done with that process, which is the most important number to watch right now.  When we finish inserting the text, all that will be left is testing and checking for any spelling or grammar errors that we didn’t spot before.

As always, thanks a lot for your support.

  12. shogunreaper Says:

how about posting the translated text and letting people here check for mistakes?

  13. お疲れ様でした Says:

Oh boy, seems like it’s really coming together now. Thanks a lot for the update and all the work you guys are putting into this!

  14. Sporky McForkinspoon Says:

@Shogunreaper: That wouldn’t be all that helpful. We really don’t make very many mistakes, and those we do can mostly be found by a good spell check program. Unfortunately, it takes a fair amount of skill to take a rough translation and turn it into an acceptable sounding version of the same text while maintaining the same meaning.

Granted, opening up the translated text to the public might attract more talented people to this project, but I don’t think it would help much. At the same time, publishing an unfinished version would almost certainly lead to a bunch of half baked, buggy patches being put out by third parties. Since those versions would still have our name on them, we would prefer simply to continue working as we have been, and release a version that we can be proud of.

  15. skullbazon Says:

    GO GO GO !!!

  34. mr ottah Says:

I’ve been steadily watching you guys from the sidelines on a regular basis for the past few months just catching up on the great work Romsstar Sporky and the rest of the team have been doing. There is a overwhelming amount of people hyped up over this project I can speak for most of us when I say that what you do puts a huge smile on our faces. Thank you, thank you thank you. I know I don’t know any of you personally, but you ought to know that you have done a lot for me and digimon fans globally.

  35. Andy Pabon Says:

    I cant Wait!

  36. faytofavalon Says:

I love you guys, any ways to donate?

  37. Nicholas McWilliams Says:

Thanks a bunch! Any ways to Donate?

  38. Alex Menacho Says:

    GREAT!!!!!! YESS::::…..!!!! Thank you all!!
No need to hurry, we are thankful just to hear this is happening.

  39. deadstalkers Says:

what’s the first digimon every one plans to get once this patch is released.

  40. DiogoN96 Says:

Great!! Thank you so much! And deadstalker: good question. I’ve just realized i hadn’t think about it yet, hmm… oh and sorry forany grammar mistakes btw (english is not my native language)

  41. Hitsun1612 Says:

Thnx for the update and your hardwork, keep it up ^^

  42. Sporky McForkinspoon Says:

@Faytofavalon and Nicholas McWilliams: I appreciate the thought, but we prefer not to accept donations. Partly this is because we feel a little weird about accepting money for something that hasn’t been released, but mostly because we’re way more likely to get sued if we take money. Still, thanks for offering, it’s nice to know that people are that willing to help with projects like these.

  43. Tiago Says:

    Will have a separate patch?

  44. alan Says:

May i know that where the download link?

  45. Rai Says:

Read the damn post, Alan. It’s not released yet.

  46. Bacons Says:

  47. Anton Says:

Love that you are so close to completely converting this game to English. I managed to get a Japanese copy of the game, and I must admit it is brilliant. Even if I cannot understand what anyone is saying.

I’m looking forward to see and playthrough your final edit to the game. Thank you so much for the work you’ve done on it.

I am curious on how and where you will post your final edit of the game, and I certainly hope that it won’t be on a torrent based download system.

Anyway, I suppose my real question is if it will be a patch installer type file or if you will re-release the iso with your edits.
In either case I am Of course curious what site(s) you will be posting them on.

  48. Coburn Says:

Dude. This makes me extremely happy! Will this be compatible with Android emulators?

  49. Rai Says:

If the emulator can run the Japanese version, it’ll run the translated version.

And Anton, they’ve said they’ll be posting a patch file, and a tutorial on how to use said file.

  50. Anton Says:

Ah. Thank you Rai, I was unaware of that. I only just recently because aware of the game itself and the patch, so i hadn’t had a chance to read the other entries of the blog.

  51. Noël Rakotondramanana Says:

YO!I’ve been watching you all since only January but it was amazing how you speed up your progress and almost finished the patch, thank you to the team again for the hard work…btw my birth date is on 25 december so I know that it will be the best Xmas for me

  52. MecBrian Says:

Sporky McForkinspoon Você pode postar um outro vídeo de gameplay em inglish? * – *

  53. MecBrian Says:

Sporky McForkinspoon You can post another video of gameplay in inglish? * – *

  54. jeanme132 Says:

I dont think sporky speaks inglish. o.O, he may speak English Though ;)

  55. Sporky McForkinspoon Says:

@MecBrian: Perhaps, it wouldn’t be terribly hard to do, but making a video does take a day or two where we don’t really work on much else. Plus, we try to pick scenes that don’t have terribly many spoilers to them, and we’re running out of those. We’ll talk about it, though.

  56. MecBrian Says:

    Ok, Thanks =D

  57. max1heretik Says:

Once again, congratulation for your efforts !!!

  58. gabriel Says:

yes bitches, congratulations, cheers from South america

  59. Gary Sia Says:

  60. JP Says:

THANK YOU! You guys keep ROCKING!

  61. Raze Betatester Says:

in the mean time shall finish my list

  62. Sporky McForkinspoon Says:

Do I want to know what else is on that list, Raze?

  63. Xion Says:

I was aware of a English translation being worked on but I had no idea it would be so well done. With your help, I can finally understand what’s going on in this amazing game (which is still very new to me). I cannot thank you enough!
I might of missed this information but could you tell me if there would be a charge for this fantastic translation and if so, how much?

  64. deadstalkers Says:

    Xion the patch is free

  65. Sporky McForkinspoon Says:

Xion (great name, btw), the patch is entirely free. We’re doing this because we enjoy it, not to get paid.

  66. Foufoune Says:

I love you guys, im waiting for this since the start… keep up the good work and tell us if there is anything we can do to thanks you =)

  67. brodiej Says:

you guys are awesome keep up the good work, and can’t wait to see the finished product, thanks for all your hard work.

  68. DataOV Says:

I’ll post here in case something interesting is in the comments section again. :D

  69. Wetnuts-Mc-Soggysacs Says:

    My balls are moist

  70. Auron Says:

Ah. this warms my heart. i cannot wait to see it complete.

  71. Greg Says:

    Thanks guys! You ROCK!
I hope that you’ll also translate Digimon Adventure (2013 game) after this project. :))

  72. Hothead Says:

    Thank you

  73. James newman Says:

MARVELOUS! You’ve no idea how excited this makes me! Let’s go!

  74. Aulia Rahman Says:

Where’s the download link master ?

  75. Sporky McForkinspoon Says:

It doesn’t exist. We aren’t finished making the patch yet.

  76. Aulia Rahman Says:

Sorry. I pray that you stay healthy and work you have. thank you for trying to master. : D

  77. Mun Says:

Thank you so much for this.

  78. Anon Says:

wow u guys actually will release it before Christmas, i have small faith before and think its might be next year

    nice and ty~

  79. Sporky McForkinspoon Says:

I won’t deny that that’s possible, Anon. We’re trying to finish by the end of the year, but if it comes down to delaying the release or releasing something that isn’t as good as we’d like it to be, we’ll delay the release.

  80. ahmadmanga Says:

you think you’ll finish before the end of next month?

  81. ahmadmanga Says:

nevermind… didn’t read the last comment right sorry

  82. Rai Says:

Personally, I’m fine with any time it takes to complete this. The more time, generally means a higher quality product.Right now, from what we’ve seen, this is already better than any translation we’ve had for a Digimon game.

  83. deadstalkers Says:

it’s better than heaps of fan translation done by any one iv’e seen for other projects on the net

  84. Lau Says:

    HELL YEAH!!!
Thank you so much for keeping this project going!
I can´t wait to play this game!

Thank you for your efforts guys!!

  85. Zanzoltan Says:

OK, I would love if you made a video of the moment you’re about to release the patch, and all you have to press is “enter” :D

    You know…like a “movie” kind of release…

And then, you film the hype that will explode on this site :D

  86. Tommy Merkel Says:

i want it so bad that game :*(

  87. leon Says:

Great job guys.we people from greece anxiously wait for the patch

  88. Rain Says:

Love you guys! Can’t wait to relive my childhood memories again :3

  89. Rai Says:

If they’re not finished by April next year, they should release a video of them about to release the patch, and just before they finish, their PCs blue screen, erasing all existence of the patch.

It would be an April Fools prank to bring a tear to my eye.

  90. Monkey D. Luffy Says:

thank you soo much for this bro.. we really appricate all your hard work.. :)

  91. Whinymon Says:

YAY! We should have the game translated by the end of the year, 2017!! Any time now!

  92. andrewpmh Says:

I am so excited about this! Thank you for all your hard work!

  93. Rai Says:

@Whinymon: Would you like some Cheesemon and Crackersmon to go with that Whinemon?

  94. Sporky McForkinspoon Says:

Indeed, what kind of person decides, when told that we’ll be done either late this year or early next, that we’re clearly years away from being done.

  95. Sporky McForkinspoon Says:

Hey, thought you guys would want an update. Since I made this post we’ve been working through those pack files. Kalker spent all day yesterday on it, and we now have 37 of them done. That means we’re about an eighth of the way done with the insertion process.

  96. VX Says:

    @whinymon :1/8 in 10 days , 100% in 80 days = 2 months+20day = mid february release

joke , but i really hope this project doesnt stall any longer.
november and december holiday speedup plz.

  97. VX Says:

btw , just recently played Devil Survivor 2 on NDS ,
i instantly recognize they have same character designer as Redigitize (Suzuhito Yasuda)
he have weird style of drawing boobs , weird proposition with body and looks like floating weight-less

    Liked by 1 person

  98. Rai Says:

You’re telling them to give up their holidays with their loved ones, to solely work on this patch? Dude, how ungrateful can you possibly be?

And stalling? Since when have they stalled at all? Your post is entirely disrespectful to the team of this translation.

  99. Sporky McForkinspoon Says:

I should point out that seventeen of those files were done yesterday. That type of projection is inherently flawed. We were at eighteen files complete or several days while Romsstar was too busy to upload and organize more of them. Then, Kalker’s school went on vacation, and suddenly had more time to work on this. Some days are incredibly productive, while others see no movement on the progress bar.

At worst, I would expect a January release. Either way, it’s hardly stalling. We have always said that we would release this patch when and only when it was 100% complete. We are hopeful that we will be done by the end of the year. More than simply hoping in fact, we are working hard to make that hope a reality. Whether we meet that goal or not though, it’s not stalling to not be finished as soon as you would like us to be.

  100. VX Says:

did you miss the “joke” i type? ,

  101. VX Says:

    @Sporky :

I never meant anything bad , first comment is simply a joke for Whinymon
i understand that i’ve nothing to do with the project and doesn’t have any right to state any condition the project is in.

  102. Robson Rodrigues Azevedo Says:

  103. Rai Says:

@VX: You typed joke before the parts I was talking about. It doesn’t count there.

  104. VX Says:

    @Rai :
    that one is for whinymon

  105. ignel Varia Says:

this is exciting!!! XD , can i assume that you gonna release it in two week time?

  106. tiago Says:

Not to early, it have to be the best( and only) complete translation of the game

  107. crimsondisco Says:

Feels unreal to think you guys go through so much work just so we can enjoy the game. Thank you so much.

  108. Wiezzenger Says:

What will we need to do in order to play it once you’re done?

  109. Sporky McForkinspoon Says:

@Ignel: No, why would you assume that? It says in that post that it’s probably going to be some time around the end of the year, which is more than two weeks away.

@Wiezzenger: That depends on how you want to play the game. To use the patch we are releasing, you’ll need to have an ISO of the game. The only legal way to get that is to have a PSP with custom firmware on it, and to have bought the game. If you have both of those, just use an ISO creator like Active ISO Manager 2. Then you’ll use our patch, which you’ll download from here, and a program called XDelta GUI to apply the patch to the ISO. Lastly, you can either put that patched ISO on your PSP, or run it using an emulator.

  110. Wiezzenger Says:

Awesome, I just recently dusted off my PSP and did all that custom firmware stuff so I can play PS1 games. Can’t wait for this!

  111. chaosakita Says:

    Thank you!

  112. Oscar.velasco.137 Says:

Go on with your great work, guys, i am waiting excited for the translation, greetings from Bolivia :D

  113. Jess Says:

Can’t wait you guys are awesome!

  114. Vex Ocelano Says:

    Insert high pitched excited SQUEEEEEEEEL

  115. Oscar.velasco.137 Says:

Do you think it’ll be done for christmas?

  116. mrianmerry Says:

Oscar, I do believe that’s their current objective, although the chances of that depends on how busy they are with the rest of their lives!

  117. Xacris Says:

After waiting for so long, the finish line is finally in sight. I just want to extend my appreciation to the team, because this has been a massive undertaking, and without you guys I would never have a hope of playing this game (at least, playing and understanding it).

  118. N Says:

no sir, don’t thank us. However, THANK YOU for the time you spent making the translation.

  119. Deva Says:

Thanks for your hardwork. I’ll wait.

  120. randomninjasa Says:

You’re doing god’s work here. I’m so looking forward to this game. I’ve been following translation of this game since I found out about it, and to see the final wrap-up getting closer makes me happy you guys have been so dedicated. Thank you!

  121. André Says:

Thanks so much!! You guys are heroes!

  122. SmurfyD Says:

I’ll give you a nickel if you give it to me now.

  123. Resty Q Vargas Says:

    wassup guys? :)
what are the updates here in the comment box?ive been busy for awhile :D
More support for this team and GODBLESS! :)

  124. Guto Says:

It’ll be nice to, when possible, you guys comment here how many of the pack files you inserted so far… everybody is very anxious for the release and that countdown thing would be a thing to calm us down xD
    thanks anyway!

  125. Sporky McForkinspoon Says:

Right at the moment, 44 are finished, including two largest. A lot of the ones we will be doing later are small sections from those two. Why they made extra packs with text written elsewhere I couldn’t tell you, but they did. We should have considerably more in a day or two, the bottleneck right now is that with Romsstar being busy with school, Kalker and I are finishing the packs faster than he can organize and upload new ones.

For those keeping score at home, 44/294 is just under 15% done.

  126. Sarimu Says:

That’s a remarkable work you’re doing for the serie’s fans. We’ll never be grateful enough. (y)

  127. Rai Says:

That’s pretty awesome work. Keep it up, you guys are doing phenomenal.

  128. vivovace Says:

I can not wait for this masterpiece :)

  129. Topboy99 Says:

I HAVE DOWNLOADED A CSO OF THE GAME GRAPHICS ON PPSSPP ARE AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!BUT I CANT UNDERSTAND JAPANESE.

  130. Rai Says:

Holy shit calm your tits. We don’t need you capslocking everything and putting 50,000 exclamation marks in every post.

  131. kirito Says:

keep up the good work guys^o^

  132. Jamie Says:

Only 8 weeks left until the years end, think you’re going to meet schedule? Good luck guys. :)

  133. Sporky McForkinspoon Says:

    @Topboy: That’s lovely?

@Jamie: I think so, but it’s a little hard to tell, there are a number of variables that can effect things.

  134. Bacons Says:

    15 percent is better not 0 :P

;-; I won’t hope for Christmas. My heart wouldn’t be able to take the pain.

  135. Sidtz Says:

<3 can't wait. kind of sad i'll have to play on PPSSPP. Analogue on my PSP was busted and drifting everywhere, then i cleaned it out and now its just stuck going up-left. Sucks since i was in the middle of Blazing Souls Accelate and that's basically unplayable on the emulators atm.

    Good luck with school Romsstar!

  136. Gabraham Says:

I’ve been anticipating this translation for a long time now and am very excited that it’s just a month or two away. You guys are very generous to be doing this for free.

  137. Rai Says:

I’d like to tell people not to assume it’s only a few months away. They’ve said, many times, that there’s a lot of factors to take in here, and anything could make it take from a few months, to many more months. Plus, they never said it would be exactly in a few months, they said they ‘wanted’ to get it out before the end of the year.

  138. crimsondisco Says:

I remember you guys mentioning how you were interested in doing a translation of the 3DS version if the right tools were available. Somebody released a CFW for the 3DS along with tools just recently and some people are already doing Undub patches for games. Have you taken a look at that?

  139. Sporky McForkinspoon Says:

I’d heard some rumors that was coming, but I hadn’t heard there was a release yet. Link?

  140. Noël Rakotondramanana Says:

BTW sorry for disturbing ur talk,is someone playing digimon master online? I’m on Lucemon server
thanks again for all the team who is doing the translation for free
    u’re the best

  141. Sporky McForkinspoon Says:

No worries, we go off topic a lot, it keeps things lively. I’ve never played Digimon Masters myself, but Romsstar told me he used to, once.

  142. meeman666 Says:

So I’m curious, will there be a way to apply this as a patch, for those of us who own the game on umd or will it have to be run from the modified iso? I know for me personally itd be preferable to apply translation patch/update to the game and keep just that on the memory card than the whole modified iso. Has any thought been put into this? Thanks for all your hard work and I look forward to playing with your translations!

  143. Rai Says:

gDMO is pretty bad, Joymax basically has been milking the game for all it’s worth, putting up tons of shit on Mall exclusively, and generally is pay to win. Thankfully there’s no PvP so you can’t just beat the crap out of other people with your “hard earned” mall bullshit.

kDMO, I’ve heard is a lot better, and fairly easier too (For some reason, gDMO decided they’d redo the item drop system.) But I’ve never tried it, numerous English patches exist for it though, from what I’ve heard.

  144. digicro Says:

Hello guys.I am glad you made it this far with translation and glad that there is even a possibility that you finish it before New Year. And some offtopic:I just finished Digimon World completely fastest way possible:All with Agumon-Numemon-Monzaemon 100 recruitment points in 16 digidays :)

  145. crimsondisco Says:

It’s over at the GBATemp 3DS Hacking & Homebrew section. I spoke with Canzah, who made the first 3DS romhack, an Undub patch: https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-shin-megami-tensei-iv-undub.373660/ try to get in touch with him, he’s in the know about 3DS romhacking and he’s willing to help.

  146. AIsan4494 Says:

    ΟMG GUYSS! THank you!!!!!!!!

  147. NeoDaedalus Says:

Oh, wow. It’s already November, huh. I can’t say that this year went fast though. Too much stuff happened, even if I don’t remember them all I’m sure they’re there, so… Looking forward to 2015. (since Yen Press will release No Game No Life in English, which I’m definitely buying, not relevant btw)

  148. Rai Says:

I wouldn’t do anything with the recent “CFW” for 3DS, it was a leaked copy and therefore is extremely buggy.

  149. RoSe Says:

Man, I’m in that time of the year in which I have a need for Digimon of some sort. I’d give japanese Re-digitize another playthrough, but I’m saving myself for the translation.

I loved all 3 Digimon Worlds of the PS1, but I’ve burned them so much by now. I need something to spice things up. If only Kimeramon in Tera Domain was true (So many years as a kid believin’…)

Anyway, I wish you all you can be satisfied with your work when the time for release finally comes. Saludos, from Argentina.

  150. Jamie Says:

@Rai – Gateway’s latest firmware comes with a stable version of it. From what I’ve seen it should now be possible to translate Decode.

  151. Whinymon Says:

You guys realize it’s November, right?

  152. Toffy Says:

I don’t care when you are going to finish, take it easy guys.
You already put a life time worth of effort into this.

By the way, wouldn’t it be more efficient to double check the text for errors before inserting it? It seems quite troublesome to extract and re-insert text.

  153. Sasukemendez Says:

OMG naruto FKIN ENDED 1ST before this translation finished!

  154. kalker3 Says:

@Whinymon, yes, I do realize it’s November. I also know that there are 12 months in a year. November is the 11th month. :)

  155. Krownyh Says:

@kalker3. it goes way beyond that, November also has 8 letters, just like January, February and December. Which is equal to First, Second, Eleventh and Twelfth. Realize how amazing it is, from the 4 months with 8 letters, it’s the only one that equals to its ordinal form. Sugoii

  156. AdiKOV Says:

November has 8 letters, its the 11th month. 11-8=3. 3, Half life 3 confirmed. Thank me later.

  157. Ace Liaren (it was Sora Yuuki before..) Says:

DIGIMON FEVER.!!!! or thats what i think at least..
GJ guys..! all your hardwork wont be in vain… cuz we will enjoy the game that you all translates with ALL your HEARTS…
(and here i am just typing some encouragement comment while lamenting on my unability to help.. sorry guys…)

  158. Rai Says:

@Jamie: Gateway’s “stable” version of it was still built off of the leaked and extremely buggy alpha. Plus, I don’t particularly trust Gateway after that kill code they put in one of their versions.

    Nothing is bugless.

  159. Realica Says:

    I can’t wait anymore ._.

  160. Serge10 Says:

Thank you so much for this effort! I am too is excited. Right now I am playin Digimon World Adventure on PSP but I understand v4.1 still is not 100% translated. Would anyone know if there is a dedicated blog like this for Digimon World Adventure. Thank you in advance.

  161. dekiriyadi Says:

My support is all yours, Thank you so much

  162. Sporky McForkinspoon Says:

Digimon Adventure is on our list of things we plan to translate, but we’ll be finishing this project before making a final decision as to what we work on next.

  163. Sporky McForkinspoon Says:

@Meeman666: Sorry, your comment got eaten by the spam filter, so I didn’t see it until now. At this time there is no way to apply the patch to anything but an ISO of the game. The PS3 hacking scene has a plugin called Revolution that makes it possible to alter the game’s data on the fly via the system’s RAM, but an equivalent has not been made for the PSP.

One of our programmers, StorMyu, has talked about making one at some point, but as far as I know, never gotten any further than that. If such a plugin ever does get made, I would have no problem releasing a version of our patch compatible with it, but except perhaps for StorMyu, none of us has the skills or inclination to make that happen.

  164. Sporky McForkinspoon Says:

@Toffy: That’s more or less what we’re doing. I am opening the text files where we have stored the translated text, and the modified Falo tool that Romsstar made and simultaneously checking for errors as we insert the text. We could insert the text more quickly if we used the scripting tools to insert the text files automatically, but if we did, we would then need to check each line for errors separately, effectively adding an unnecessary step to the process.

  165. Topboy99 Says:

  166. Sporky McForkinspoon Says:

No. You will need a clean, unpatched ISO, or the patch will not work correctly. Also, capslock is not cruise control for cool.

  167. Rai Says:

^Holy shit thank you. Posts entirely in caps annoy the fuck out of me, they become so hard to read.

  168. deadstalkers Says:

Sporky McForkinspoon are Digimon games the only games you guy’s plan to translate or are other games on you radar too?

  169. Sporky McForkinspoon Says:

A little of both. We definitely want to expand beyond Digimon games at some point, but then the things that we’re most excited to work on next are things like Digimon Adventure, and maybe Decode if the technology to do so comes along. So, probably just Digimon for now, but probably not forever.

  170. NeoWolf Says:

Long time watcher here but I’ve never posted, so now it’s relatively close i think i should say thank you, thank you so much you guys rule! one suggestion add a donation button on release :D, I’d love a chance to give something back and i’m sure others would too,so much effort has been put in (if their is one and i’ve missed it could you tell me where it is :)) anyway to sum up ,Thank you sincerly

  171. Topboy99 Says:

@sporky thanks. but can I unpatch the cso by any tool. sorry for capslock.

  172. Slamtrain Says:

Just learned of this project today, and you all have been working on it for quite some time! Digimon World was a big part of my childhood. I even enjoyed Digimon World 4, though it was a bit repetitive for my tastes.

All that said, I can’t wait to try this out. Major props to this group for dedicating so much time to translating a game for others to enjoy. I’ll be keeping tabs on this from here on out! Cheers!

  173. Sporky McForkinspoon Says:

@NeoWolf: Thanks for the thought, but if we take donations, we’ll probably get our asses sued off. Nice of you to offer though, I really appreciate it.

  174. NeoWolf Says:

@sporky : good point ,that’s too bad though the fact that you guys knew that u’d just get thankyou’s galore (which is still good) shows that your a great set of peeps ……thankyou :)

  175. alcavaledo Says:

    How’s the progress going?

  176. Sinclair AJ Says:

hmmm..can u post a link for the latest update..i mean some of us cant wait for your awesome work to be published and will be very thankful for what you have done.for me an 80%translation is more than enough.i cant wait to play the game..thank you very much for your hardwork

  177. Sporky McForkinspoon Says:

I couldn’t do that, even if I were willing to. The technical reasons are somewhat complicated, but in essence, to insert the translated text that we have created over the last couple of years requires that we do so more or less manually. There is an automatic option, but even if we use it, we still have to make sure that things fit correctly into the text boxes if you want to be able to read it. We’re doing that as quickly as we can, and the only way to speed up that process would be to not do any spelling or wording checks as we do so, and I don’t think that would make the process significantly faster. So, sorry, you’ll have to wait.

  178. Rai Says:

What Sporky is essentially trying to say, even if they’ve translated the game entirely, they haven’t inserted the new text into the game. Just begging for a release is essentially just asking for the Japanese version with English Menus, and the first chapter or so in English (Similar to the already existing Digimon Adventure translation!).

Quit bugging them, seriously, they shouldn’t have to keep telling people that they don’t want to release something unfinished.

  179. Sporky McForkinspoon Says:

^ Pretty much that. If we released what is already inserted and ready to ship, you’d get the first chapter, most of the NPCs in the city, and at various points in the plot some of the cutscenes are translated. We have way more of that translated, but it’s all in .txt files right now.

  180. Lost Says:

Honestly, i kinda afraid this project gonna be like FF type-0, SUDDENLY BANDAI APPEARED and go to full retard.

  181. Anon Says:

@lost fkin true… too creepy, i didnt want to rush you guys in translation things up but better hurry, this project is getting more attention lately……

  182. Krownyh Says:

Geez, if you’re all worried about BANDAI then simply stop asking for progress reports. After all, if the project is “dead” they won’t search for the responsible. Cheer them as much as you want. Praise them to your heart content. But stop asking for info that you have no use for.

  183. DemonKingKenji Says:

G’day guys and girls thanks for all your hard work ive been following this since you started from the shadows and im quite impressed with your progress I cant wait for it to finish and for all my fellow aussie digifans thanks and good luck.

  184. Geo Says:

So who here is going to pick up All Star Rumble today?

This is a moment of truth. If we show Bandai Namco we want Digimon, we might get Decode and Cyber Sleuth.

  185. mrianmerry Says:

    All Star Rumble is ps3?
Not that it matters as I’ll buy it anyway, but it would be nice to at least be able to play it XD

  186. Geo Says:

The game can be bought on either the PS3 or the Xbox 360, both for retail or for digital download.

  187. agave Says:

Wow, it feels great to know about this project. I really want to play this game since a long time ago, but i don’t know where to find the full version of english patch. I hope this project will finish at the expected time, without any delay. Thx for your good work, it’s really a big help for people like me who doesn’t understand japanese. Keep it up :)

  188. Sporky McForkinspoon Says:

We’ll certainly try to finish, but in the worst case, I think we’d only be a week or two into January before we finish.

@Mrianmerry: I forgot that was coming out today. I’m kind of meh toward the Rumble series, but yeah, I’ll probably buy it to encourage Namco.

  189. Sporky McForkinspoon Says:

Hey guys, I thought you’d want to know that we hit a bit of a snag. When Romsstar started testing the most recent version of the patch, he found that the game freezes any time you open the items menu. He’s working on it, and hopefully it will be resolved quickly, but this could potentially be one of those things that requires us to push the release date. I’ll keep you updated.

  190. Rai Says:

I enjoyed the Rumble series honestly, I mean it could have been better, but it was still enjoyable IMO. But the All Stars game… looks really bad, the only way I’d buy it, is to support Digimon as a whole.

Anyhow, about the snag, it’s fine honestly. Shit happens, we just gotta deal with it, nothing we can do but wait. If the release date gets pushed back, then it gets pushed back. Nothing ever goes smoothly in development.

  191. Sporky McForkinspoon Says:

Thanks Rai. I wouldn’t worry too much about it for now, it’s not the same department as the editors, so we can work on the problem in parallel. It’s only likely to be an issue if it isn’t something that can be quickly resolved. Romsstar says he has determined that the problem stems from the insertion tool that Roxas from the GBATemp forum made, and that sections of it will have to be rewritten. We had a similar problem once before, and CompCom was able to quickly sort it out. We’ll still probably ship on time, but I like to be on the level with everyone.

  192. chrisciatti Says:

I like this kind of update with the estimated percent complete. I see there’s some updates in the comments; would you mind putting out a new update with new estimates, and include the news on the snag? I think that will get highest visibility and be the most helpful for folks trying to see the latest by digging through comments. Thanks for the great work guys! I’m glad there are people out there who want English Digimon games as much as I do!

  193. Sporky McForkinspoon Says:

Sure, i can do that. I think I’ll wait a few days until we have a better estimate on how difficult it will be to squash this bug, but I’ll make an update at that point.

  194. chrisciatti Says:

    Awesome, thanks!

  195. Maryjane Says:

Everyone should be praising all the people who are apart of this project not saying you should hurry up and all this shit like a few have. It will be done when it can be done plain and simple. Amazing work you have done so far i tried to play the game in japenese a while back but sadly way too difficult, i can not explain how thankful i am digimon world was my main game when i was younger the amount of hours i played that game is unbeleivable. Anyways great job guys keep up the good work and take it easy dont try and rush it snags are inevitable when doing something like this we will all be happy whatever date it is :D

  196. whiteytitey1234 Says:

u guys should update more often just to let people know the projects still alive

  197. Leo Says:

Thank you guys! Thank you very much!

  198. crimsondisco Says:

@whiteytitey1234 They update once a month or so. They are always very active here in the comments section though, if you read those.

  199. Sporky McForkinspoon Says:

@Whitey: See, when Chrisciatti asked me to make an update, they did so in a polite manner, and put in some effort to capitalize and punctuate the request, and I readily agreed to make an update in a day or two. Your request makes me not want to update just to piss you off.
