We are currently looking for a new graphics artist, as our lovely Redigitize graphics artist HelloWinter is alas not available for Decode due to an overfull schedule. So we are looking for someone that might continue her legacy and create awesome graphics for Decode, which, given that the game is using even more graphics than the original Redigitize, is crucial.
Requirements:
- You must be damn good at drawing, posses or be willing to acquire a vast collection of fonts and can match Japanese Fonts and style quickly and accurately.
- You must be able to use Photoshop, Illustrator and other basic graphic tools.
- You must have a Skype account and be easy to stay in touch with.
- You must be willing to rework graphics I might call “garbage” in the process.
- You must be able to remove Japanese symbols from signs and make the English version look as good as the original, without anyone even noticing it was ever different.
- In short: We are looking for a graphics person so damn good that fans will wonder whether the Japanese graphics are the translation’s and yours are the original.
Reward/Benefit:
- If you are any good you’ll be credited at the end of the game.
- You get the joy of thousands of people calling your designs gorgeous.
- As a member of the team you get to experience the process of translating a game.
If you feel like you are up for the job please contact me at romsstar@gmx.de.
(If anyone feels offended by the job posting, we do apologize)

I’d love to volunteer, but there’s the slight problem of me having absolutely no graphical talents to speak of

Well anything you’ve seen in Redigitize. The Meat Farm Sign, the Gym Sign, the coffee and kitchen sign. Any sign you never noticed and which was English wasn’t in the original release.

Does this mean you’re further on with the translation than you’re letting on? Or are you just trying to find someone before you start? Either way, I would love to help but I lack the necessary skill set that’s required.
If you’re ever looking for random useless facts that nobody really cares about, I’m your guy though, haha.

My partner I work with it on is currently really busy so for now I’m researching stuff on my own, but given how much we already have actually we are not far from having reverse-engineered the WHOLE game, which effectively would put us in the position to restore the source code… But there are still some roadblocks, make no mistake. In short: It’s been on for over 5 years, we took breaks, long ones too and we are just doing it for the heck of it. It’s pretty much still on.

Hey guys.About original Digimon World project,I have an idea.Could you make New Game+ after beating Machinedramon with all previously learned techs and items from before. That would be preety cool especcialy because of tedious learning techs. What do you think?

Possible, I’ll think about it. Currently I’m translating the reports about the next Digimon World Game: Next Order. Interesting stuff. Looks gorgeous that game.

The only problem is: We still don’t know who the developer is. While many think it’s Tri-Crescendo again, nothing is confirmed. Interesting fact: It’s gonna be a different producer this time. While Habu was responsible for Redigitize, Decode and Cyber Sleuth, this game is gonna be produced by a unknown guy named Fujiwara.

I heard somewhere you have two digimon along at a time in New order.
Good luck finding someone, have you tried advertising elsewhere, maybe some art sites? People always want something to add to a portfolio

I think this is actually a big misunderstanding because people see Gabumon and Agumon at the same time. But guys this is CLEARLY a reference to DW1 where you could choose between Agumon and Gabumon. All the other screenshots also only show Agumon. So to me it’s clear as day that we can choose again between Agumon and Gabumon.

Seen the news on Siliconera, those pics though, so sexy. I hope they actually let the city grow this time, you know, lacking buildings at first, then they pop up as you recruit, or maybe it has nothing to do with recruitment and it’s more like an old WoW, and there is just a bunch of exploration, that could be fun as well, if the secrets are plenty, but that is going to be pretty hard to happen, judging by the trailer, they seem more keen into making something closer to the old school DW1.
Strange how digimon had this sudden burst of games recently, any reason for that?

“Graphics I might call ‘garbage’ in the process”?
“(only) if you are any good (according to who) you’ll be credited”?
Wow, I’m all in for these projects, but you sure are an ignorant on how professional graphic design works are dealt with, and you sound like a jerk. Having someone working for you at a professional level for free is a privilege for you and the project, not for them. You should at least show some minimum respect. Saying you’re expecting a high standart would have sufficed.
Good luck with your project and all, but this is not the right atittude to be recruiting.
Kindly, one less suscriber.

Have you ever heard of a thing called irony? Moreover, do you realize how many people worked on a professional level on Redigitize? High standard is also a relatively lose term everyone defines differently. And it’s true: Many professionals in the graphics field are no good. I know enough of those to judge that objectively. But anyways, I wouldn’t want to work with anyone who would feel offended by this recruitment anyways, as it’s clear that this person and I won’t get along. And hey, it’s fine. Sorry if you feel this way, but I see you posting here for the first time, only to object to the way a recruitment post which is CLEARLY written to amuse. Meanwhile you had the privilege to enjoy the work of a multitude of professionals while playing the translated version of Redigitize and yet you only came here to complain.

I think we found someone. We’ve found a very competent graphics designer, who is trying out. We’re unlikely to say no to another equally competent person, but having one is a relief.
@acediez: The willingness and ability to take criticism is seriously important if someone’s going to join the team. We have a long standing policy of letting anyone on the team veto anything and ask that it be redone, so long as they have a suggestion for how to improve it, and I think it shows. We didn’t settle for ‘good enough’, we did probably five rounds of proofreading and editing on DWRD’s story, more in some places, until everyone on the team felt it was as close to perfect as we could get.

And even now I still see places I want to improve :D But we gotta compromise sometimes as well, because a product which is focused on the opinion of only one person is also somewhat inelegant.

I have two things to say.
This translation team is very professional with their work, and I would expect their results to be on par, if not better, than Bandai’s own translations (Hell, the current DWRD patch IMO is better than anything Bandai’s put out so far.), people who apply for the team should know this themselves, and they should fully expect to be ripped apart if your art isn’t up to snuff. It’s life, get over it and get better, most artists would criticise their own work harsher anyway, you are the worst critic when it comes to your own work.
