[Proof of Concept] Digimon World Next Order Translation

by

Hello guys,

since Major_toms recent post, fantranslations became possible.
As such I’m posting a proof of concept of a theoretical Digimon World Next Order Translation+Modding :)

I showcase 2 hacks:
1) Text insertion
2) Model replacement (The DW1 protagonist is usually not playable)

Caution: This is merely a proof of concept and NOT an announcement of a planned fantranslation. At this point there are currently no plans to translate Next Order, as there is no telling if it might get localized officially. Also we have enough projects on our plate as it is.
(If it won’t, it’s still nice to know that we can…)

POC: Digimon World Next Order Fan Translation

I’m aware of the typo but since insertion is currently a
bit messy I was too lazy to fix it.

Model ripping is also possible

Unfortunately I have no capture card, so video capturing is not possible for me.

So does this model ripping method work for all vita games (including cyber sleuth)? Because some high quality digimon models would be pretty neat reference material.

It looks amazing! It would be amazing to be able to play as Hiro. That would make the game an even better nostalgia trip to Digimon World 1.

I’m not an expert, but the exploit that allows access to game data is fairly multi purpose, but not all games use easily ripped model formats and such, so your mileage may vary.

I hope this happens. Either a fan translation from you guys, or an official release from Namco/Bandai. I got Cyber Sleuth when it came out, and I would not hesitate to get this either!

You guys did a wonderful job with re: Digitize, and I am looking forward greatly to Decode. I wish the whole team luck. Just don’t push yourselves too much with 3 projects and real life on your hands all at once. You guys have a ton of supporters, and I wait impenitently for the next bit of news!

Ok, I apparently can’t read, if i could I would have seen the bolded text saying this isn’t a project….wow, I’m blind lol! Well, the main part of my last post still stands true, just don’t burn yourselves out, many people are counting on you guys to keep the great work up!

Yeah, we’d like to do this at some point, and it’s very nice knowing we have the option, but three projects would be too much. I wish Digimon had a bigger translation/hacker community, gets a little lonely being the only ones who consistently work on it.

We’re focusing on Decode for now, but we’ll definitely get back to Lost Evolution before too long.

ohhhh jesus, are you releasing the tools for this or something? I’m sure there’s people out there who would want to make their own “campaign”, or even recreate DW1 on Next Order.

  14. Romsstar Says:

@cryuum: as fun as the idea sounds a recreation of DW1 is not possible with next order simply because 70% of the DW1 are missing in the game. There are currently no plan to release any tools

@Romsstar: I meant more like making the places from scratch, using the original backgrounds only as reference.
